Day 30: Final Challenge

the five-minute test · the Day 1 re-recording · fifty questions · what comes next · 45 min

Thirty days ago you could not read a single character.

Four parts today: speak for five minutes, re-record your Day 1 sentences, take the fifty-question exam, and decide what happens on day 31.

⚠️ Do the recording before you look at anything else. Revise first and you are measuring your revision, not your thirty days.

1. 🎤 The five-minute challenge

Rules

Five minutes, one takeno notes, no pausing, no restarting
No English, not one wordif stuck, use the phrases below
Record ityou are comparing this to Days 7, 14, 21
Mistakes do not stop youspeak through them

How to fill five minutes — follow this order when you stall

Each block is roughly 45 seconds. When one runs out, move on — do not sit in silence rescuing a sentence.

BlockReach for
1Who you are — name, country, where you live, how long저는 ~예요 · ~에서 왔어요 · ~에 살아요
2Your job, your age~이에요 · ~살이에요
3Your family★ the right sibling words · 우리 · 있어요/없어요
4Your day — waking to sleeping, with times에 · 부터~까지 · 그리고
5How you get around, and what's near you타요 · 에 vs 에서 · 앞에/옆에
6What you like, and what you can't do좋아요 / 좋아해요 · 못 · 별로
7What you did last weekendthe past tense
8What you have to do this week, and what you want to do-야 돼요 · -고 싶어요 · -ㄹ 거예요
9Why you're learning Korean-니까 / -아서, a full reason clause
10What you'll do next — and a question back-ㄹ 거예요 · -ㄹ까요?
Blocks 7 and 9 are the ones that show thirty days of work. Anyone can memorise a self-introduction. Telling a story in the past and giving a reason in a connected clause cannot be faked.

If you stall

음… · 글쎄요… · 잠깐만요. · 뭐라고 하죠? · 아, 그렇구나.

2. 📊 The Day 1 re-recording

Read exactly these — the same ten from Day 1 §7 — and record them.

KoreanMeaning
안녕하세요.Hello
감사합니다.Thank you
네. / 아니요.Yes. / No.
죄송합니다.I'm sorry
저기요.Excuse me
잠시만요.Just a moment
몰라요.I don't know
한국어 조금 해요.I speak a little Korean
다시 말해 주세요.Please say that again
안녕히 가세요.Goodbye
Now play the Day 1 file and this one back to back.Listen specifically for: ㅓ vs ㅗ · final consonants unreleased (감사, 몰라) · 비음화 — does 감사합니다 come out as [감사함니다]? · 연음 — is 한국어 now [한구거]? · and whether the ten sentences now run as phrases rather than syllable-by-syllable.On Day 1 you were sounding out blocks. Today you are speaking.

The speaking-length row is the honest one. Pronunciation moves in jumps and plateaus; how long you can keep talking goes up in a straight line, and it predicts whether you will still be speaking Korean in a year.

4. ★ The last ten sentences — the whole thirty days

If you keep only ten sentences from this month, keep these. Each carries a structure.

  1. 안녕하세요, 저는 알렉스예요. — the opening
  2. 캐나다에서 왔어요. 서울에 살아요. — 에서 vs 에, in one breath
  3. 저는 학생이고, 스물다섯 살이에요. — -고 + the two number systems
  4. 누나가 한 명 있어요. — ★ the sibling word + 있어요 + a counter
  5. 매일 카페에서 한국어를 공부해요. — the full frame, verb last
  6. 저는 한국 음식을 제일 좋아해요. — 을/를 + 좋아하다
  7. 매운 거 잘 못 먹어요. — 못 + adjective-as-noun
  8. 주말에 뭐 했어요? — the question you'll be asked most
  9. 부산에 갔는데 정말 좋았어요. — past + -는데
  10. 네? 다시 말해 주세요. — the phrase that keeps you talking

5. Day 31 — not stopping here

Thirty days gets you to A1 and the edge of A2 — you can survive, socialise and tell a story. It is also the level people lose fastest if they stop.

Minimum maintenance — ten minutes a day

3 minUpload something real to LangNote — a menu, a sign, a message, a lyric
3 minOne role-play turn set. Speaking, not reading
3 minReview cards. Whatever is due
1 min★ Say what you did today, out loud, in the past tense
The one-minute past-tense habit is the highest-value thing on this list, and the first thing to decay.

What to learn next, in order

Why it's next
① 반말you only have 해요체. Friends will offer 반말 and you need to accept it
② -(으)ㄴ/는/(으)ㄹ + nounDay 27 gave you half. Full relative clauses unlock long sentences
③ 합쇼체 — 합니다/습니다you recognise it; producing it matters at work and in interviews
④ Honorifics — -시-, 드리다, 여쭈다Day 10 gave you three verbs. There is a system behind them
⑤ More connectors — -다가, -자마자, -더라고요the texture of natural speech

And the honest advice

Your particles will be wrong for a long time. Every learner's are — 은/는 vs 이/가 is a multi-year problem and you will absorb it from volume, not from study (Day 5 §6).Do not let it slow your speaking down. The people who stay hesitant about particles are the ones who stop talking, and the ones who stop talking lose the language.Speak first, be right second. That has been the rule of this whole challenge and it stays the rule.

6. 📲 The last upload

Upload section 4 (the last ten sentences) and your five-minute recording → study language Korean.

MissionWhat to do with it
🗣 ShadowingThe ten sentences — save this pronunciation score, it is your Day 30 number
🎧 PodcastYour own five minutes, played back. Uncomfortable and the most useful listening you'll do
❓ QuizThe fifty questions
📖 VocabThe ten sentences, as your permanent core deck
🎭 Role-playOne last free conversation — no scenario, no script

The two files

Put your Day 1 recording and your Day 30 recording side by side one more time.Thirty days ago you were learning that ㅏ is a person with the sun on their right. Today you spoke for five minutes about your life, your family, your week and your reasons — in the past tense, with the verb in the right place, without stopping. That is what thirty days is worth. Keep both files.
수고하셨습니다 — 정말 잘하셨어요.(You worked hard — you did really well.)
